ECONOMY 

The Boyacá economy is mainly based on agricultural production, mineral exploitation, the steel industry, the trade and tourism.
This activities are regulated by the Chamber of Commerce of Tunja, Chamber of Commerce of Duitama and Chamber of Commerce of Sogamoso.
The Industrial Corridor of Boyaca is the most important economic region in the department.

This corridor is formed by Tunja, Paipa, Duitama, Nobsa, Tibasosa, and Sogamoso. In this site you can find more than 90% of Boyaca trade, major industries, tourist resorts and crafts.

Agriculture is very important in the region, the main crops are potatoes, corn, onions, wheat, barley, sugarcane, cassava.




In the mining part Boyacá explodes mostly minerals like coking coal, clay, phosphate rock, sand, plaster, marble and limestone iron; coal mined technically have significant reserves in 19 municipalities.
Most farm is in the emerald being the first operator of this mineral nationwide.






Craft production is distributed throughout the region highlighting sisal baskets made in the town of macaws, ruanas of wool in the town of Nobsa, among others.







Industrial activity is the production of steel , cement, motor vehicles, metal, beer, soft drinks, prefabricated building, bricks, bodies for trucks and buses, drawn, furniture, footwear, leather goods and foodstuffs. Most are located in the industrial corridor dimensioned above.
